VL Polycement Tank

Technology Details:
The Polycement tank is made in a trapezoidal shape by the excavation of soil having 1: 1 slope. The water storage structure comprises of Trapezoidal tank lined with 250 GSM Silpaulin. Silapulin covered with blocks made of cement: sand: gravel 1:3:3 ratio can be made using standard sand and gravel from the market or using locally available river sand. The size of blocks 50x25x6 cm / 50x20x6 cm were constructed by using a concrete mixture of 1:3:3 cement sand and gravel. These blocks should be constructed in the open and after construction water should be sprinkled daily for 21 to 30 days to properly mature and strengthen. Blocks are specially arranged over Silpaulin lining horizontally and vertically with a gap of 4 cm between two horizontal blocks and one block gap between four blocks (two horizontal and two verticals). The gap is filled with the same ratio of the concrete mixture of cement: sand: gravel 1:3:3 ratio in sloping walls. The bottom of the tank, as well as the top portion of the tank, is also cemented in the same way. The one outlet pipe is kept at the bottom of the side with 50 to 75 mm pipe. One overflow pipe (3-to-4-inch diameter) was also installed at 20 to 30 cm below the top of the tank on one side. The design of the water withdrawing pipes arrangement is suitable for fishing cultivation. The 20 mm pipe of 1.5-meter height should be installed at a 2-meter interval around the tank and an agrished net/mesh wire net should be installed by tightening with these pipes and the bottom of the net should be fully covered with soil. So, snakes or other predators cannot enter the tank.
